As crisis deepens and he closes in on the final ingredients, he ultimately must choose where his fate lies: with his new bride or his dream sandwich.<\/p>\n<p>FULL DISCLOSURE\u00a01: the story isn&#8217;t crime like my latest stuff. It&#8217;s\u00a0a blend of satire, adventure\u00a0and magic realism that&#8211;OK, <a title=\"Behind the Short Story: \u201cThe Carcassonne Dream\u201d\" href=\"https:\/\/robertmangeot.com\/?p=72\" target=\"_blank\">it&#8217;s a romp<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>FULL DISCLOSURE\u00a02: the local\u00a0ham is completely made up. If you don&#8217;t mind fictional ham, proceed. Otherwise maybe try a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hamazing.com\/articles\/difference-between-jamon-serrano-prosciutto-di-parma-parma-ham-jambon-bayonne-ham-and-presunto-explained\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bayonne or\u00a0Spanish<em> jamon<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>THE SANDWICH<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Carcassonne\" target=\"_blank\">Old Carcassonne <\/a>is\u00a0Medieval fortress preserved and\u00a0looming\u00a0over a modern-ish French town.\u00a0 Even beset by tourists the place has the grandeur of a tomb and the vibe of fantasy. A place so epic needed a sandwich to match.<\/p>\n<p>I started with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epicurious.com\/recipes\/food\/views\/Ni-oise-Tuna-Sandwich-Pan-Bagnat-104642\">Provence classic <em>pan bagnat<\/em><\/a>.
